Italeri 1/72 Aeromacchi mb-339

This is the review of the Aeromacchi mb-339 from Italeri.

Trainer airplanes were always a request in most airforces, to aid the pilots to learn how to fly. But most of them are not used both as trainers and as attack airplanes. The Aeromacchi mb-339 was one of the few that actually was used in both parts.

It was a request from the italian air force, in the mid seventies, to replace its old trainers. Although it is a conventional nearly straight wing configuration, it was a good evolution from its predecessor, even it it was not supersonic. It was also used by the Argentinian air force during the Falklands war.

The model kit construction is completellys traight forward. No big problems, and it comes out a nice little airplane.

Landing gear wells are adequate, but tending to low detail. Cockpit has a nice amount of detail, and it is visible from its large glass.

There are several versions for it, Italeri also has another boxed version which has the external cannons and decals used by other air forces. This one only has the fuel tanks, as it is the dedicated aerobatic version. I've made the decals by myself, to have the Italian trainer version.

In the end, It can become a nice little airplane, which has an "old school" look. It does look nice on any shelf. And it is easy to build.
