Airfix 1/72 Messershmitt Bf109 G6

This is the review of an Airfix 1/72 Messershmitt Bf109 G6.

The Messerschmitt Bf109 was designed in the mid-thirties, and was the backbone fighter of the Luftwaffe during the second world war.

It was the escort fighter during the battle of England, where it faced the Hurricanes and the Spitfires with mixed results.

However it was fairly successful during the invasion of Yugoslavia and the invasion of Russia. It was a light aircraft, easy to maintain. It kept being upgraded during the war, and was still in use long after its end.

About the model kit, this is an Airfix 1/72 Bf109 G6. The construction is easy, simple steps without any problems. Everything fits in its place, although an instruments panel should be made as it is missing.

The landing gear wells are simple, as well as most of the model.

It is not a perfectly detailed model, but its not bad. It becomes a simple build which actually is fun.

With some work, like reshaping the fuselage machine guns bulge, it can be pretty accurate! Although not a match for Airfix newer moulds which are amazing, it was a big improvement over the older ones.

This model can be built in 3 versions, which are represented on the instructions in colour images!

I did not managed, however, to make de decals fully transparent… Perhaps they need a glossy surface and then the matt coat.  As a final remark, I may say that everything fits, looks good, and it can be a nice weekend build.

P.S. Video review in here.
