Airfix 1/144 SE210 Caravelle Air France

Another old kit... Of an old airplane... As a matter of fact, one of the earlyest jetliners...
Sud Aviation SE210 Caravelle!
The Sud Aviation SE 210 Caravelle was one of the first jetliners to ever fly. Usefull on short routes, it could do its job at a "fast" speed, with afordable reliability. First flight in 1957 and it was improved up to 1971, and it is still a classic. A clean design with rear mounted engines. And one of the few with triangular windows! And these were its "partners".
The metal fatigue haunted comet
And the BAC 111.
Which were amongst the common early jet liners. Noisy, fuel thirsty, but which were fundamental for the evolution up to the actual jetliners... However, in 1957 a revolution was started, with what may be called the begining of the bigger jets, but that is another story...

This one was built out of the box, although I plan to buy another one to use with TAP decals...
First of all, we notice not too many details, landing gear is simple...gear wells could be deeper... But this is an old airplane and an old mould... So, don't be too harsh on it... Even with a different box, we can still buy it! Not that expensive and we'll get a classic airplane on display. The hardest part may be to make the "shiny metal look"...
But with the Alclad II and some extra care, we can!
Even if its not the most forgiving paint ever... It is hard and any mistake will be hard to hide. But even so, it is possible. But lets go to the kit itself: even for an "old thing", it is acceptable. The lack of detailled pannels can actually improve its look! Unlike the Revell 1/144 747-400, it doesn't look toyish!
I mean, I admit I could have made a better effort on it, but it was actually easy! No big harassments, not that hard to make...
You'll endup looking at it, even if it is one of the smallest on the shelf... And like the real one, that is its point: simple, clean and good looking! If you find one, get it. It is a different kind of "show stopper".
