amt ERTL 1/72 F-117A Nighthawk

This is the review of the 1/72 amt ERTL F-117A NightHawk.

The F-177A was one of the first stealth aircraft to enter service. Although aerodynamicly impossible to fly, it was assisted with fly-by-wire that allowed it to be flyable. Without the electronics, it would be impossible to keep in the air, as it is completelly instable. However, its radar cross section was very small, which made it virtually invisible. It was retired  almost a decade ago.

This is one of the earliest models of the F-117. It was designed based on the first 2 pictures ever released. And taking that into account, they almost nailed it. On the top, the shape is not that bad, but its defects show bellow.

The real one is not a flat surface underneath, and that is the most incorrect part of this model. The landing gear and weapons bay is rudimentary, but can be upgraded a little.

In fact, with some work and dedication, you can make this airplane much more accurate, as long as you become confortable in cutting, filling and polishing.

The cockpit, well... It is beautyfull! We can see it all, even if most of the details are made by the decals. Although I do not comment on its accuracy, I may say that it is the best part of this model.

Appart from that, well... It is an old model... If you want to test on customizing, modifying, and scracth building, this can be a good option. If you do look for an accurate F-117, then, you should search for a more recent model kit... Nevertheless, this was one of the first models of it ever made, when it was still mostly classified.
